The painting was donated to the French state.〔〔Stephanie Clifford, (Stolen Picasso Work Is Seized in Newark ), ''The New York Times'', February 26, 2015〕 It was last exhibited in Berlin, Germany, in 1998.〔〔 It was then stored at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.〔〔 However, it was stolen in 2001.〔〔 In December 2014, it was sent via FedEx from Belgium to the United States with a customs indication as a Christmas present.〔〔 Upon its arrival, it was seized by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Newark, New Jersey.〔〔 By August 2015, it was returned to the French state.〔
As of 2015, it is worth an estimated US$15 million.〔
